Olivia Gilmer-Chekosky is working as the Community Gardening Network summer intern at Just Food. Part of her job this summer will be to plan the 8th annual Urban Agricultural Bike Tour which will take place on Saturday August 23rd, 2014.
As such, she is looking for enthusiastic volunteers and community partners to support her in this endeavour throughout the planning phase and on the day of the event.
This tour aims to increase awareness and community support for the various community gardens we have in the city, create a dialogue with participants about the importance of food localism and accessibility and create a fun and family-friendly event for Ottawa’s residents. There are various ways you can get become involved in this event: by volunteering, spreading the word to the members of your community, providing services such as bike rentals or bike repairs, putting up posters at your location or in any other way you can think of.
Two years ago, Citizens for Safe Cycling President Hans Moor participated in the tour and wrote a blog about it.
