scott-bikebox-diagram

Posted on 2023-02-242023-08-15 by Shawn Gettler

A diagram superimposed on a satellite photo showing the crosswalks and crossrides at an intersection. For people on bike travelling east to west at the top of the diagram, a bike box is located before the intersection. Additional annotation has been added showing the assumed route of a cyclist travelling south to north and making a two-stage left turn to go west. The cyclist crosses to the north side of the street to avoid riding in the crosswalk, but must turn across the crosswalk and turn completely around to face west.
